Introduction
Madarao Kogen is a small to medium size resort and has 30 identified courses. Madarao is popular due to inbound designated tree skiing areas. Access to powder without having to duck rope lines.
Accommodations
There are several hotels, ryokans and pensions in the area but the official hotel is the Madarao Kogen Hotel. I have stayed at the Madarao Kogen Hotel 2 times and once at their sister hotel the Monaile Madarao. While the Madarao Kogen Hotel is ski in/ski out, the Monaile is not truly a ski in/ski out and requires a 5 min walk from the trail, however because the Monaile is a sister hotel, there is a free shuttle that can take you to and from to the Madarao Kogen Hotel.
The Madarao Kogen Hotel is slightly above average in terms of cleanliness and quality but overall a very nice and pleasant hotel. The rooms are nicely sized and has a toilet and bath in the room The hotel also has a nice indoor and outdoor onsen perfect for relaxing after a session.
